Dateline Privacy Policy

The short version
Dateline is a video editor. Your videos, photos, voice-overs, projects and exports stay on your device. Dateline does not have its own server, does not upload your footage, and does not include advertising or analytics.
Information the app uses
- Videos, photos and audio you choose: Dateline reads the clips, images and music you pick from your phone so you can edit them. Projects are saved in the app's private storage on your device.
- Camera and microphone: used only when you record video or a voice-over inside Dateline.
- Location: used for the location plate. When you add a location, Dateline asks your phone's location service for your current position and the name of the place. That lookup may send your approximate location to the location service on your phone, which is provided by the phone's manufacturer or Google. Dateline does not store your location history or send it to us.
- Notifications: used to show progress for exports that run in the background.
Information we do not collect
Dateline does not collect your name, email address, contacts, advertising ID, or usage statistics, and does not share personal data with third parties.
Exports and sharing
When you export a video, it is saved to the Movies/Dateline folder on your phone, where other apps can open it. When you share a video, you choose the app to send it to, and that app's privacy policy applies from then on.
Children
Dateline is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Your choices
You can turn off any permission in your phone's settings. Dateline keeps working for the features that don't need it. Uninstalling Dateline deletes the projects stored inside the app. Exported videos in Movies/Dateline stay on your phone until you delete them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at https://imahathi.github.io/DateLine/privacy-policy and the effective date above will be updated.
